Created by professional artist and Minerva Native Matt Kress, this mural is located at the entrance to the village’s historic downtown and pays tribute to the village’s namesake through powerful imagery inspired by Roman mythology. Sponsored by Minerva Arts Council, Visit Canton, and the Village of Minerva and with cooperation of building owners Cherrie and Tim Matthews, the artwork features the goddess Minerva -symbol of wisdom and war- alongside her iconic owl companion. While the village was actually named after Minerva Ann Taylor, not the Roman deity, the mural embraces the mythical connection in a bold and timeless way.
