Picowso is a bold and colorful cow sculpture painted by Minerva native and muralist Matt Kress. Inspired by Picasso and the Minerva Dairy’s iconic butter packaging, the piece blends cubist art with local heritage and playfulness. Minerva Arts Council and Minerva Dairy commissioned Kress to reimagine Lacey May, the Dairy’s larger-than-life and traditionally black-and-white cow who has stood on the Lincoln Highway since 2006.
Picowso aims to spark joy, evoke childhood memories, and celebrate creativity in the heart of downtown. Now a standout landmark, it reflects the community’s pride, charm, and evolving artistic spirit.
