Minerva Arts Council is pleased to share a three-dimensional collage quilt created by a wide range of members in our community from many different age groups. Art teacher, Jan Clark, gave folks the opportunity to design a mesh wire square using a variety of found objects and recyclables. Each square is a unique piece of art on its own! Painted cd’s, bottle caps, buttons, along with wire and a variety of found objects that can sustain the seasons outside were used to form the collage style art. The supplies were set up locally at festivals starting in September 2017. Minerva High School art students also added a set of all black squares to bring unifying elements to the piece. Clark then assembled them all and the quilt now hangs in the alcove at The Roxy Theater in downtown Minerva.
This piece of public art symbolizes our unity and a shared experience that brought our village together.
